Launceston’s historic Albert Hall will soon reopen its doors following the multimillion-dollar development of its eastern wing extension, and upgrades to its original interior, including the Great Hall, which can accommodate up to 520 guests in a banquet-style setting.
Albert Hall opened in 1891, and the upgrade work is preserving the venue’s historic charm while integrating state-of-the-art facilities and increasing its overall capacity.
The new extension flows into the landscape of City Park while maintaining the venue’s facade.
It also boasts a new reception area and kitchen at ground level, and a new meeting room on the venue’s first floor.
Albert Hall also features five additional meeting spaces throughout the property.
“Launceston continues to gain global recognition as an exceptional destination on all fronts,” says Marnie Craig, CEO, Business Events Tasmania.
“The city of Launceston has shown its commitment to business events by reimagining this historically significant venue and equipping it with modern facilities.
“Coupled with the recent national recognition of Peppers Silo Launceston as Australia’s best business events venue [at the 2025 Australian Tourism Awards], it’s clear the city is primed to welcome a variety of business events.”
Craig also emphasises the role of Business Events Tasmania in supporting event planners through funding and assistance.
“With major developments such as this happening across the city, we’re seeing a growing interest in Launceston as a business events destination,” she says.
“Our team is here to help organisers unlock the full potential of their events, offering funding opportunities and tailored support to ensure a seamless experience in Launceston.”
