The Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology (ASVO) has welcomed Chrissie Smith, a two-time finalist for Young Gun of the Year, as the new Regional Director NSW on ASVO’s Executive Board.

Smith is the owner of Intrepridus Wines in Canberra and takes over the role of Regional Director NSW/ACT from Monica Gray of See Saw Wines.

The appointment was ratified at the ASVO’s recent annual general meeting, with Smith joining the existing Board, comprising Andy Clarke, Dr Sam Scarratt, Dr Vanessa Stockdale, Dr Alana Seabrook, Jeremy Dineen, Dr Katie Dunne, Nick Dry, Dr Eveline Bartowsky, and Chris Waters.

ASVO President Clarke said: “Chrissie will add a fresh perspective to the Board. Having joined the industry relatively recently and being a Young Gun finalist as well as a grower and a winemaker, her involvement will help us shape the direction of the ASVO to best meet the needs of the next generation of industry movers and shakers among our members.”

In other changes, Dr. Sam Scarratt was made Vice President, Scarratt joined the ASVO Board last year and became CEO of Vinehealth Australia in August.
