The Australian Distillers Association (ADA), the peak body for Australian craft distilling, has announced leadership changes to support the next phase of strategic growth and enhanced services for members.
ADA President Holly Klintworth reaffirmed the association’s commitment to partnering with government, industry, and its members to grow a thriving distilling sector that drives regional jobs, enhances Australia’s global reputation, and contributes to a strong national economy.
As part of this transition, Paul McLeay has resigned by mutual agreement from his position as Chief Executive of the ADA. Over the past four years under his leadership our industry has seen incredible growth and success.
The ADA delivered several important initiatives, including dramatic improvements to the excise incentives for Australian distillers, while embedding a safety culture through the establishment of the National Distilling Institute, delivering an industry-first Certificate IV in Artisan Fermented Products (Distilling) and fit for purpose Introduction to Distillery Safety course.
ADA membership also grew significantly during this time, laying a strong foundation for the future.
“We thank Paul for his passion, commitment and contributions over the past four years,” said Klintworth. “He has played a pivotal role in expanding the ADA’s national presence and in strengthening the voice of Australian distilling with government, media and stakeholders.”
To ensure continuity during this transition, the ADA has appointed Co-Founder of Four Pillars Distillery Cameron Mackenzie as Interim General Manager, effective immediately. Cameron’s leadership will help guide the Association while the search for a new full-time General Manager is underway.
The Association welcomes Cameron as interim General Manager, acknowledging his respected standing within the industry and the depth of experience he brings in building an Australian craft spirits brand from the ground up. His passion and dedication will be invaluable as he helps steer the ADA through this next phase.
