Top 500 Bars ranks bars across the world through analysis of big date in over 20 languages, and as it announces bars ranked 300 to 200, Founder Anothony Poncier says this year’s rankings demonstrate renewed dynamism in the global cocktail bar industry.

The 2024 rankings sees 129 cities represented, compared to 122 last year and across 50 countries, which Top 500 Bars says illustrates the expansion and diversification of the bar sector.

Anthony said: “The past few years have been a test of resilience for the bar industry. But now we’re witnessing an incredible resurgence of creativity and innovation.

“Our ranking captures this effervescence and highlights the most influential establishments on a global scale, that are shaping the global drinks scene.”

In addition to more cities being represented, the 2024 Top 500 Bars features a large number of new entries, highlighting the continual evolution of the cocktail world.

Top 500 Bars said: “These rising stars represent diverse styles and approaches, each bringing unique flavours and experiences to the table.

“Alongside the new bars, the ranking also welcomes several new cities, highlighting the growing global reach of cocktail culture. These destinations include Malmö in Sweden, Auckland in New Zealand, Salvador de Bahia in Brazil, and Tainan in Taiwan underlines this trend towards internationalisation.”

The results for the 300 to 200 will be followed by the 200 to 100 range beginning of October. A grand award ceremony, to be held in Paris in mid-November, will reveal the top 100 cocktail bars, crowning the best establishments of the year.

Top 500 Bars uses a unique methodology by aggregating data from thousands of online sources, including expert opinions, consumer reviews, and social media presence. The company says that this approach ensures a balanced and objective representation of the global cocktail bar landscape and provides a comprehensive overview of the global bar scene.
