Casa Mariotti is bringing Rome to the heart of Richmond, serving up cream-filled buns, a curated Italian wine list, and “Nonna’s beloved Roman rice balls” in a warm neighbourhood setting.

Melbourne brothers and hospitality veterans Guido and Giacomo Guerrieri own and run the restaurant, combining their wealth of front and back-of-house experience.

“We’re excited to bring Casa Mariotti Bar & Cucina to Richmond – a community we love – to showcase our family’s dedication to Italian hospitality and traditional cooking,” says Guido.

“Our goal is to revive the warmth and conviviality of Italian dining through traditional recipes that reflect our heritage and genuine love of food and family,” says Giacomo.

Giacomo leads the menu from a strong background, having worked in the bohemian Roman neighbourhood Trastevere for over two decades, before spending 10 years at The Union Hotel in Melbourne.

On the menu is a range of authentic Roman dishes, crafted from their Nonna’s “cherished” family recipes.

Snacks and starters include Chimmy’s Bakery ciabatta and taralli (savoury wheat biscuits), Cantabrian anchovies, olive pâté, seasonal frittata, and a selection of meats and cheese.

The mains feature supplì “al telefono” (Nonna Mariotti’s rice balls), polpette al sugo (meatballs in tomato sauce), and bucatini all’amatriciana (Rome’s signature pasta dish with guanciale, tomato and pecorino Romano).

For dessert, handmade maritozzi con la panna (cream filled buns) grace the menu alongside a classic tiramisu.

The wine list features a range of imported Italian wines, alongside local wines made from Italian grape varieties. Classic cocktails, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic options join the list.

To celebrate the opening, the team is running a daily aperitive from 4-6pm with specials and complimentary snacks.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Friday from 4pm, Saturday from 12pm, and Sunday from 12-3pm for a $55 set menu “feast”.
