Cascade Brewery has announced the release of a new premium lager, Cascade Origin, made exclusively with water from Hobart’s kunyani / Mt Wellington, as well as Tasmanian cool-climate hops and locally malted barley.

The brewery celebrated its 200th birthday earlier this year, and has launched Cascade Origin to mark two centuries of Tasmanian brewing heritage. In addition, the beer is Cascade’s first major mainland release in more than a decade.

Cascade Origin has a bright, golden hue, and tasting notes describe a light citrus hop aroma, rounded malt body, light bitterness and a crisp, refreshing clean finish, with an approachable 4.5 per cent ABV.

Cascade Brewery’s Head of Manufacturing Brendan Flanagan, said that the new release showcases the quality of Tasmanian ingredients, as well the brewery’s expertise.

“Cascade Origin has been launched to mark Cascade’s 200th birthday, not just in the Apple Isle but in Sydney and Melbourne too. Cascade Origin celebrates the crisp water of Hobart’s kunyani / Mt Wellington, the finest Tasmanian ingredients and a commitment to quality. It is meticulously crafted and has that little bit extra to make it really special.

“Cascade Origin is made to enjoy with good friends and good food. Think kingfish ceviche, lobster rolls and duck bao. The citrus hop and crisp bitterness balance both light and rich flavours. This is a premium beer for special occasions. It may not to be for everyone, but that’s why we’re proud to offer a great range of beers for almost every taste and occasion,” he said.

Cascade Origin will be available at select venues in Sydney and Hobart, as well as in store at Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor across NSW and Victoria, and in various Tasmanian bottle shops.
