Club Mount Lewis appoints Matt Cavanagh as CEO

Matt Cavanagh has been appointed as the new CEO of Club Mount Lewis in Sydney’s south-west. With deep ties to the club’s local area of Bankstown, Cavanagh said he eager is bring his wealth of experience to continue the club’s long-standing legacy.

“I was excited to take on the role of CEO at Club Mount Lewis, a cherished institution that has long served as a cornerstone of the local community for both its social members and bowlers,” he told Club Management.

“Having grown up in the Bankstown region, accepting this position felt like an organic choice, allowing me to honour and continue the strong legacies established within the Club.

“With a deep appreciation for the rich and diverse culture of this community, my goal is to make Club Mount Lewis a welcoming hub where locals can come together and truly feel at home.”

Cavanagh joins Club Mount Lewis after having served as the chief operating officer of Sporties Group for the last five years.

“Transitioning from my role as COO at Sporties Group has provided me with invaluable experience that I believe will guide me confidently in this new position,” he said.

“My time at Sporties has instilled in me a deep understanding of operational excellence, a passion for member engagement, and a forward-thinking mindset – all of which I believe will be instrumental in our future endeavours.”

In his new role, Cavanagh said he personally hopes to “foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration within our team and the broader community”.

“I aspire to be a leader who listens to and responds to the needs of our members, ensuring that Club Mount Lewis continues to serve as a home away from home for everyone,” he said.

When it comes to the club itself, Cavanagh said he wants to explore new initiatives that will honour the club’s history while embracing new ideas.

“My vision for Club Mount Lewis is to ensure it remains a vibrant and inviting space for the local community,” he said, hinting that renovation upgrades are on the cards.

“We have recently partnered with architects to design upgraded facilities for our members and guests, we will look to bolster our community projects and will deliver various in-house technology solutions to improve enhanced experiences for both staff and patrons.”
