CMNL, the group behind Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL, has sold Camperdown Commons in Sydney’s inner west to Andrew McNamara of The Field at Easts Rugby in Bellevue Hill.

JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group, which made the sale, said CMNL divested the venue as part a “strategic non-core selldown mandate”.

The venue was sold via a competitive expressions of interest process with interest garnered from an array of hospitality professionals.

“City-fringe hospitality venues continue to be highly sought. The impressive trade metrics and scalable landholding materialised in a highly competitive process with participation from a variety of operators,” JLL Hospitality sales agents Greg Jeloudev said.

Located in Sydney’s inner west, Camperdown Commons is positioned on a large 3,781-square-metre landholding, and features a bar and bistro fitout complimented by ample function space. The sale included lease tenure, by Pocket City Farm, to 2036, with the venue possessing substantial upside via a hands-on management approach.

While the sale price remains undisclosed, JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group said McNamara’s vision is to focus on “enhancing the community-centric operating model to establish an enduring hospitality destination for years to come”.

The sales agent added McNamara was attracted to the “strategic operational synergies and aligned business philosophy with his existing venue”.

“I am elated to be taking on this wonderful venue and making it a space people continue to gather, making memories with friends and family,” McNarama said in a social media post.
