Last chance to enter Estancia Raicilla Cocktail Competition

Written by Sep 17, 2024Bars and Clubs

With less than three weeks before entries close, bartenders in New South Wales and Victoria are encouraged to submit their entries for Agave Lux Australia’s inaugural cocktail competition, the 2024 Estancia Raicilla Cocktail Competition.

The competition was created to expand the Raicilla category and share its rich cultural story. Proudly Australian-owned and operated, Estancia Raicilla is crafted in the highlands of the Sierra Madre in Jalisco, Mexico.

The remote distillery produces exceptional spirits, but it also provides essential employment opportunities for the remote communities of the mountains, and boosts tourism.

Justin Kosmina, Owner of Estancia Raicilla, says: “Raicilla is a relatively unknown agave spirit, which we not only started our business on, but importantly a product we use as one of the education levers to help customers understand there is more to the category than tequila.”

There are some exciting prizes up for grabs, with one winner from each of the two states awarded the trip of a lifetime to Mexico to visit distilleries and indulge in the culture, with second and third places taking home $500 in cash and a generous supply of Estancia Raicilla, respectively.

In order to qualify for the Estancia Raicilla Cocktail Competition, bartenders must notify Agave Lux that they wish to participate via admin@agavelux.com.au before building their own cocktail showcasing Estancia Raicilla, and feature it on their menu.

Participants are encouraged to share their creation on Instagram, tagging @estancia_destileria and @agave_lux, using the hashtags #FlyMeToEstancia #EstanciaCocktailComp2024.

Entries must be submitted before 30th September to qualify and will be reviewed and scored by 18th October.

The top five scored cocktails will progress through to the state finals, where each finalist will have 10 minutes to present two drinks to a panel of three independent judges. The first drink, ‘the perfect simple serve’, cannot feature any homemade ingredients, and will be followed by presentation of the winning cocktail.

The finalists will be announced in October, before the New South Wales final takes place on Monday 11 November and Victoria on Monday 18 November.
