St Kilda’s The Prince has welcomed Mitch Orr as food and creative director for its restaurant Prince Dining Room.

Orr is known for his work at Kiln at Sydney’s Ace Hotel (home to the famed Jatz cracker appetiser), and as one of the forces behind the now-closed Italian-Asian eatery Acme.

In his new role, Orr is set to take Prince Dining room in a new culinary direction with a new menu set to launch in the coming weeks.

“Melbourne has one of the best food scenes in Australia, and I can’t wait to be a part of the history of such an iconic venue,” says Orr.

“I’m excited to bring my food to St Kilda and to become a part of not only the incredible local community, but the wider Melbourne restaurant community.”

Orr will be joined by newly appointed Head Chef Ben Parkinson who comes from roles at Albert Park’s Pipi’s and Sydney’s Monopole.

“I’m very excited and looking forward to joining Mitch and the team at Prince Dining Room and to play a role in a new chapter for a Melbourne institution,” says Parkinson.

The Prince is a multi-venue establishment and is home to Prince Dining Room, Prince Hotel, The Little Prince wine bar, live music stage Prince Bandroom, and events space Prince Deck.

Prince Dining Room will officially reopen to the public on Sunday 27 April with bookings now open.
