Fancy takeaway fish and chips or a long lunch with ocean views? New South Wales will soon have its own version of Queensland’s popular Burleigh Pavilion.
Opening on the Central Coast in mid-November, Terrigal Pavilion will offer three different dining experiences just over an hour from Sydney.
Ben May, who is behind the Burleigh Pavilion, and his business partner Rod Domjen, are putting the finishing touches on the extensively renovated multi-storey space.
The flagship NSW venue will be home to the Terrigal Pavilion (or ‘The Pav’), restaurant The Tropic, and The General Store. The 760 capacity venue sits at the southern end of the esplanade near the ocean, with direct access from the boardwalk.
Upstairs at The Pav, which has ocean views from every table, there will be a relaxed food menu with a selection of pub classics and wood-fired pizza. Pav spritzes, tropic margs, and live music will also be available.
Downstairs at The Tropic is a show of the Mediterranean, serving share plants like burrata and pesto, spaghetti vongole, goldband snapper, and wagyu with beef jus. There’s also a 90-bottle wine list, including a selection of magnums.
The General Store will open for coffees, smoothies, juices, and baked goods in the early morning. It will continue trading throughout the day with takeaway options like fish and chips, burgers, and pizzas.
Domjen, who grew up on the nearby Northern Beaches and spent summers on the Central Coast, says they feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to reinvigorate the “beautiful site”.
“We hope it’s somewhere the community will both feel proud of and want to enjoy,” he says, adding that Terrigal Pavilion will be a place locals can make their own.
“With more than 300 locals joining our team, this is very much a place that’s both by and for them.”
He says they are also excited for more people to experience the magic of the Central Coast.
“Located just over an hour from Sydney, it’s perfect for whatever you’re looking for: a weekend getaway or a special spot to celebrate a birthday, hen’s, or even a wedding.”
Terrigal Pavilion is set to open on Saturday 15 November, with reservations now open for The Tropic ahead of its launch on Wednesday 19 November. Visit Terrigal Pavilion to make a booking.
