What started as a passion project has turned into a permanent venue in Melbourne’s Cremorne from Francesca Poci and Selfless Events’ Deyon Murphy.
The pair are behind On Air, a hybrid coffee shop/interactive music destination for diners, creatives, and artists. Murphy says the space aims to “bridge the gap between traditional venues and everyday spaces”, with music playing a key role in the experience. “With the rising global trend of coffee shop DJ sets, the appetite for alternative environments to consume music in is burgeoning, and we’re so excited to bring this to Australia.”
On Air has been fitted out with a top-end Pitt & Giblin sound system which plays curated in-house radio channels. The venue will also host a rotating roster of live DJs, but one thing is for sure, there will always be tunes playing during trade (which is Monday to Friday 7am until 3pm).
Baristas are pulling shots of Inglewood coffee from the counter, which was created by 0.18 Design and Construction, with the design team prioritising the use of sustainable and upcycled materials. The venue is full of natural accents, from the Tasmanian oak flooring to Australian hardwood seats and Douglas Fir timber beams.
As well as coffee, On Air is serving smoothies, seasonal salads, pastries, and a range of paninis (spicy tuna, chicken schnitzel, chicken and cheese) on bread sourced from Abbotsford bakery Dench. For those stopping by between 8-11am, On Air is offering a pastry and coffee deal for just $8.
