The harbourside venue is the premier performing arts and convention centre in the city in the state’s southern tip, and expressions of interest are now open for the upgrade works to its roof and cladding.

The remediation works are part of a $20 million upgrade to the entertainment and events facility, which is showing the effects of its windswept ocean frontage, particularly to the building’s roof and facade.

“These important works will ensure Albany Entertainment Centre remains open for many years to come,” says Western Australian Culture and Arts Minister David Templeman.

“Our government has committed funding to ensure the longevity of this stunning building that has become the heart of the harbour.

“Culture and arts venues are a vital part of our regional communities, and Albany Entertainment Centre is the much-loved focal point of the region’s performing arts.

“The building restoration and improvements reflect our commitment to keeping this important community venue open and available to the people of the Great Southern.”

The venue’s upgrade is funded by the Western Australian Government’s Asset Maintenance Fund.

Closing date for expressions of interest is 19 November, 2024, and work is set to commence on the roof and cladding by mid-2025.

“Albany Entertainment Centre is a much-loved local landmark and it is fantastic to see the Cook Government funding works to ensure it can continue to stay open and operate,” says Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens.

“I have been to so many great shows and performances at Albany Entertainment Centre and these works will ensure everyone can continue to enjoy cultural performances at the venue for years to come.”
