The Australian Hotels Association New South Wales (AHA NSW) is hosting its annual awards later this month and the association has revealed its finalists in the key Hotel of the Year awards for both regional and metropolitan pubs.

Both the metropolitan and regional awards feature 10 hotels from across Sydney and the rest of New South Wales respectively. These venues will now be visited by independent judges who take into consideration everything from food and beverage, ambience and overall presentation of the hotel to community support and customer service.

AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said the annual awards had more than 950 entries this year and the standard was incredibly high.

“Sydney has some of the best pubs in the world and these 10 hotels are a showcase of what modern hotels offer.

“These pubs have restaurant quality food, great beer and wine, a family-friendly atmosphere and boast some of the best rooftops and beer gardens in the country.”

He added: “Pubs in regional and rural NSW truly are the back-bone of their communities.

“They hold a special place in country life which goes well beyond serving good food and drinks.

“These ten hotels are not just the best in regional NSW, they are some of the best in the nation.

“I wish all [the finalists] the best of luck.”
