Alice Springs Brewing Co expands to South Australia

Alice Springs Brewing Co (ASBC) is taking its first step outside the Northern Territory with the acquisition of Beer Garden Brewing, a much-loved brewery in Port Lincoln, South Australia.

The deal includes the brewery’s premises, plant, and equipment, with ASBC expected to assume operations in early December, pending final regulatory approvals.

Kyle Pearson, Founder of Alice Springs Brewing Co, told Beer & Brewer that the acquisition was motivated by the venue’s similarities to Alice Springs and its opposite off-season, which balances their operational peaks.

The new venue will operate independently, with plans to build on the current owners’ hard work and add their proven strategies, with a real focus on community involvement and becoming a local hub.

ASBC has been looking for a second venue for some time, and Pearson said that it was while on a holiday that he first came across Beer Garden Brewing and immediately recognised the synergies and potential.

“We went on holidays and drove around West Coast Australia, and we came across Beer Garden and saw that it ticked a lot of boxes in that it’s a pretty similar venue to what we do at Alice Springs,” he said. And after admiring the venue from afar for a number of years, they decided to take the plunge.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone for ASBC, expanding the brand beyond the Northern Territory and introducing their unique craft beers to the South Australian market. ASBC is eager to not only continue the excellent work done by the team at Beer Garden Brewing but also to bring their community-first approach and local identity to Port Lincoln.

“We look forward to continuing the hard work of the previous ownership and building on what is already a strong foundation, while also adding a few of those touches that visitors to Alice Springs have come to know and love,” he said.

Pearson emphasised that their commitment to Alice Springs remains strong, and they aim to integrate into the Port Lincoln community without overhauling the existing business.

In addition to welcoming the Beer Garden Brewing team into the ASBC family, Pearson highlighted the brewery’s plans to grow its workforce locally, with several key positions available for those interested in joining the expanding operation.

“We’re excited to become part of the Port Lincoln community, contributing to the local independent beer scene and engaging with the community in meaningful ways,” he said.

With its focus on creating distinctive, high-quality beers that reflect the spirit of the Territory, Alice Springs Brewing Co’s expansion into South Australia signals an exciting new chapter for the brewery.

The ASBC team looks forward to collaborating with the Port Lincoln community and building on the success of Beer Garden Brewing in the years ahead.
