Boccata Italian restaurant elevates dining at Melbourne Airport

Melbourne Airport welcomes the newest addition to its dining offering, Boccata Restaurant & Bar.

Boccata, meaning “a mouthful of food”, is a nod to Melbourne’s rich history of championing Italian food and culture.

The restaurant offers classic Italian fare crafted with a contemporary touch and local ingredients.

Chef Rosy Scatigna, Executive Chef Christian Corpuz, and Food and Beverage Director Dylan Wisnesky are the noteworthy trio behind the menu and wine list.

Scatigna brings her experience from Italy’s esteemed ALMA cooking school as well as time in lauded restaurants including Milan’s Lume and Sydney’s Aria.

The former lawyer-cum-chef, who joins the team after time as head chef of Sydney’s Bar Morris, is credited as the creative force behind the menu.

“The inspiration for the Boccata menu comes from my own family’s Italian roots and the stories of Melbourne’s Italian immigrant community,” she says. “When we set out to create this menu, we wanted to honour those cherished memories while celebrating the incredible produce from Victoria’s local farmers.

“Each dish is a tribute to the past and a nod to the vibrant food culture that surrounds us, blending time-honoured Italian recipes with the best ingredients this region has to offer.”

Menu highlights include deep-fried lasagna with paprika mayo, trofie pasta with garlic and chilli prawns, and fior di latte soft serve with olive oil and Murray salt.

Drinks are similarly appetising, with a range of Italian and local Victorian wines on offer alongside twists on classic cocktails including an olive oil martini and a limoncello sour.

Boccata is located in Novotel & Ibis Styles Melbourne Airport and is open for dinner daily from 5-10pm.
