Thanks to ongoing support from the Western Australian Government – through Tourism Western Australia – Business Events Perth has secured $339.61 million in direct delegate expenditure.

This represents 315 confirmed national and international business events occurring in Western Australia to 2030, generating 277,534 hotel room nights, which is 18 per cent higher than pre-COVID-19 levels.

“These are fantastic results for 2023-2024 and further highlight the value these large-scale events and conferences bring to our tourism industry and wider economy,” says Western Australia Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism Rita Saffioti.

“Business events form an important part of our government’s strategy to continue growing our tourism industry and further diversifying our state’s economy, while also spotlighting our beautiful state as an emerging global leader.”

These results are underpinned by targeted business development and marketing initiatives that are delivering prolonged economic growth for Western Australia in the national and international business events market.

“The influx of delegates stimulates spending in local businesses, supporting jobs and enhancing the overall vitality of the city [Perth],” says Business Events Perth chair Bradley Woods.

“Western Australia has once again demonstrated its expertise in attracting and successfully hosting world-class business events.

“The diversification of our visitor economy through business events visitation is a positive driver for the growth of Western Australia.”

Business Events Perth’s strategic priorities tactically align to the recently released Western Australia Visitor Economy Strategy 2033 (WAVES) presented by Tourism Western Australia, which aims to grow a sustainable business tourism sector and develop Western Australia’s status as an economic powerhouse in the South-East Asia region.
