Delly’s Milton announces closure

The duo behind Small Town Provisions is closing its praised South Coast sandwich bar, Delly’s.

The husband-and-wife team made the announcement on Instagram.

“It is nearly 12 months to the day that we rolled the dice and made the decision to close Small Town Food + Wine and reopen with our little sandwich shop,” they wrote.

“We are sad to say the puff has run out, we have given our all to hospitality and still bloody love it, but we are out of gas. Our last day will be Saturday 24 August.”

Jo Thomas and Alex Delly are behind some of the NSW South Coast’s most revered restaurants of the last decade. The couple established a name for themselves after the opening of St Isidore in Milton in 2011, which received quick praise. The restaurant ranked in the top 100 in Gourmet Traveller’s 2019 Restaurant Guide, the same year that it closed.

St Isidore’s last day of service also fell on August 24, in 2019.

Next came Small Town Food + Wine, a small restaurant with big name chefs that served high quality, local produce. In the space next door, the couple opened Small Town Provisions, a takeaway deli and wine store that has a few tables for walk-in snacks and drinks.

Never ones to stand still, the pair closed Small Town Food + Wine in 2023 to open Delly’s in the same space. Delly’s offers a range of small bites and mouth-watering sandwiches (think maple bacon, egg and kimchi rolls at brekky and toasted lobster buns for lunch).

Thomas and Delly continue to run Small Town Provisions, but they do not appear to have any further hospitality plans at this stage.

“Thank you to everyone who has been on the St Isidore -> Small Town Food and Wine -> Delly’s journey,” the couple wrote on the Delly’s Instagram account. “Small Town Provisions will continue with all the good things.”
