Help Modus rebuild Ukrainian Brewery

Written by Mar 6, 2024Beer and Brewer

The conflict in Ukraine has left countless lives shattered with local businesses, including breweries like Ten Men, absolutely devastated by the destruction. On the morning of 24 February, 2022, Russia occupied the small brewery in the town of Vovchans’k (right on the border to Russia). It took 14 hours for the team and their families to travel from the far east of Ukraine to the far west, past Kyiv, and to the relative safety of Lviv.

Recognising the vital role of small businesses in fostering resilience and community spirit, Ten Men have launched the ‘100 Collabs’ campaign bringing the international brewing community together to help rebuild the Ten Men brewery as a BrewHUB, and provide hope in their new settlement in Lviv.

Modus are proud to be the first partner in this campaign that aims to raise funds through producing 100 collaboration beers worldwide. ‘Can It!’ Hazy Pale Ale was created from a recipe that Ten Men are quite proud of due to a unique dry hopping technique that was necessary to increase the hop profile with fewer hops after supplies became scarce.

“We have called the beer ‘Can It!’ after recognising the Ten Men team did not have a way to efficiently can their beers,” said Sam Evans, Digital Marketing Manager at Modus. “Without reliable access to their own canning system, it makes it very difficult and prohibitively expensive for their team to package and grow their BrewHUB.”
