Liquor Barons has collaborated with West Australian brewery Gage Roads Brew Co on the release of a West Coast-inspired beer, Shore Break West Coast Pils.

Blending two brewing styles, Shore Break takes the clean and crisp characteristics of a pilsner and injects tropical and citrus flavours typically found in new wave brews, using Citra Cryo, Simcoe Cryo, Saphir and Mount Hood hops. Crafted at 4.6 per cent ABV, the result is a refreshing beer with flavours of mango, stone fruit and pine.

Liquor Barons Merchandise and Promotions Manager, Melissa Teale, added: “As a local West Australian liquor co-op, we are proud and excited to partner with local brewers, Gage Roads, to develop this summer brew.

“Packed with all the good stuff we know our West Aussie customers will love, this easy-drinking, hoppy, refreshing West Coast Pils will be on shelves for a limited time only, so you’ll have to get in quick.”

Ross Brown, Gage Roads’ Head Brewer, says he’s wanted to brew a West Coast pilsner for some time now, and was pleased to work with Liquor Barons on a limited release that reflects the West Coast lifestyle.

“It’s the perfect hoppy beer heading into a Perth summer – lighter on the booze, crisp and refreshing with a big fresh, punchy hop hit. A touch of malt sweetness alongside a smooth, crisp bitterness and some complexity from traditional hop varieties make it unique and super smashable.”

Shore Break West Coast Pils is packaged in 330ml cans, with artwork that illustrates Sandtrax Beach in Fremantle and Gage Roads’ portside brewery. As the sun comes out, Brown says the beer delivers the perfect balance of refreshment with a fresh, punchy hit of hops.

“Shore Break West Coast Pils blends the best of the beer world – the crisp crushability of Pilsner and the expressive hop intensity of a West Coast IPA.

“Pilsner malt and old school hops Saphir and Mount Hood give us a light, crispy and refined platform for juicy tangerine, ripe mango, stone fruit and pine aromas to shine from a hefty dose of Citra and Simcoe,” he explained.

Shore Break West Coast Pils is now available exclusively at Liquor Barons and on tap at select venues, including Gage Roads Freo.
