The Laundy family and partners have sold the Oxley Ridge Tavern development to Joel Fisher’s Monarch Hotels.
Originally acquired in joint venture partnership by the Cottle, Laundy and Wearn families, the approved hotel and QSR development has been traded off-market, with HTL Property handling the sale.
Monarch Hotels, along with Laundy Group, the Feros Group and Momento Hospitality, have been responsible for more than 90 per cent of large-scale Sydney greenfield hotels over the last 5-10 years.
HTL Property managing director, Andrew Jolliffe said population growth is driving demand for hospitality facilities, leading developers to sell approved sites to experienced hospitality operators.
“Sydney’s quickly augmenting population base, particularly in respect of the city’s South West and North West growth corridors respectively, is underserviced by many recreational facilities, including hospitality,” he said.
“Our clients, who have themselves delivered upon multiple greenfield development hotel projects, including The Marsden at Marsden Park, and The Log Cabin on the banks of the Nepean River in Penrith; have elected to flip the approved site. With the successful purchaser a similarly experienced and multi-state developer and operator of award-winning full-service hospitality developments.”
The development of Oxley Ridge Tavern follows Monarch hospitality’s hugely successful 2023 development of Willowdale Hotel, cementing itself as one of Sydney’s large format and premier gaming, food and beverage venues.
Located in the south-west Sydney suburb of Cobbity, the Oxley Ridge Tavern development is Monarch Hospitality’s fifth greenfield hotel development in recent history with the new venue expected to open its doors in late 2026.
Other recent Monarch developments include Shellharbour’s Central Hotel, Brisbane’s recently developed Flagstone Tavern and Shell Cove’s award-winning Waterfront Tavern adjacent to the Waterfront Hospitality Precinct, developed in 2021 in a joint venture with Frasers Property.
