Construction of the new Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) facility is now underway as part of the ongoing development of the Ocean Reef Marina.
The new two-storey facility will feature upgraded dining, bar, angling, diving, and sailing amenities, along with improved community meeting spaces, including dedicated areas for the Joondalup City RSL. The environmentally sustainable clubhouse will feature a first-floor outdoor deck area that will overlook Perth’s first metropolitan coastal pool and is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
This project is a collaborative effort supported by the Western Australian government, which has contributed part of a $6.5 million funding package to assist with relocating the ORSSC to its new home. The City of Joondalup has committed $3 million towards the construction, while the ORSSC itself has contributed $1.75 million.
The build is part of the larger Ocean Reef Marina development, which, according to the state government, is set to become a “world-class recreation, boating, residential, and tourism waterfront precinct.”
Stage one of the marina’s construction commenced in March and includes a 150-metre family-friendly beach and Perth’s first coastal pool, set to open in 2026. The area will also feature play spaces, facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, barbecue areas, and shaded structures.
“The redeveloped Ocean Reef Marina will boast Perth’s first coastal pool, a family beach within the protection of the marina, waterfront cafes and restaurants, parkland with a scooter park, upgraded facilities for local clubs and services, boat pens and ramps, and trailer parking,” Premier Roger Cook said.
“Commencement of works on the new headquarters for Marine Rescue Whitfords and new Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club and Joondalup City RSL is a major milestone for the Ocean Reef Marina project, which has been made possible by my government’s substantial $272.3 million investment.
“We are investing in this generational development to provide another landmark tourism destination for WA, as we work to further diversify the State’s economy. It will also deliver more housing options, open spaces, improved services and unparalleled public amenities for the local community.”
Perth building company, Byte Construct, was named as the preferred contractor of the new Marine Rescue Whitfords and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club buildings.
