SportsPick Live has secured the exclusive venue screening rights for Australian boxing hero and “one of the baddest men on the planet” Jai Opetaia’s blockbuster title defence against Claudio Squeo.

Put on by Tasman Fighters and scheduled for 13 May, the fight will see Opetaia put his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight titles on the line against the undefeated Squeo. The event will also feature some of the most anticipated talent in Conor Wallace, Ben Mahoney, and Max McIntyre.

“Jai Opetai is the king of Australian boxing, and this match-up is another step in his road to unification of the Cruiserweight division,” Entain Venues managing director Mark Sturdy said.

“We’re seeing a genuine renaissance in Australia’s boxing. This Opetaia title defence is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver the most compelling combat sports events to venues nationwide and supporting Australian boxers on the world stage.”

The Opetaia-Squeo title fight marks another major addition to SportsPick Live’s growing portfolio of exclusive combat sports events. This latest acquisition comes amid surging interest in boxing across Australia, that have included the recent event that showcased George Kambosos Jr, Skye Nicolson, Teremoana Teremoana Jr and Cherneka Johnson.

Opetaia’s last title defence in January against David Nyika, which ended in a spectacular fourth-round knockout, generated significant interest across venues nationwide. The May 13 event is projected to exceed those numbers based on current market interest.

SportsPick Live is committed to expanding its sports offerings throughout 2025 and beyond, creating consistent revenue opportunities for partner venues that align with this growing market segment.

“We’re committed to bringing Australia’s venue operators access to some of the most highly anticipated events on the boxing calendar, from these critical lead-up bouts to the potential unification super fights,” Sturdy added.

“Our exclusive rights ensure partner venues remain the destination of choice for boxing enthusiasts across the country.”
