Australian Hotelier’s Future Leaders Scholarship is back, with an even bigger prize pool for aspiring young publicans courtesy of Allara and Carlton & United Beverages.
The Australian Hotelier Future Leaders Scholarship, which was first launched in 2024, is back this year, with the aim to help develop the next generation of leaders within the pubs sector.
In partnership with our Official Training Partner Allara Learning, and leading beverage supplier Carlton & United Beverages, the Future Leaders Scholarship will provide one winner and nine finalists with prizes that will assist in furthering their careers within the pub sector.
The Future Leaders Scholarship is aimed at anyone currently working in an Assistant Venue Manager role, equivalent specialised role or junior group role (eg. Venue marketing manager, sous chef, events coordinator etc), in pubs across Australia, looking to further their career within the sector.
The Scholarship will reward the winning applicant’s critical thinking, problem solving and passion for the industry, with prizes that will help them to further their career.
“The Future Leaders Scholarship allows us to make a tangible contribution in developing the next generation of pub leaders who will help to evolve and improve the industry long-term,” said Australian Hotelier’s managing editor Vanessa Cavasinni.
“Last year’s inaugural Scholarship program allowed us to support and celebrate some fantastic young talent within the industry, and we can’t wait to do it again this year.”
Last year, the Scholarship was awarded to two young applicants: Aydan Marshall, assistant venue manager from The Pub Tamworth; and Courtney Bull, functions and events manager at Settlers Inn, Port Macquarie.
Allara Learning and Allara Global are once again sponsoring the Scholarship, and this time including an element of training for up to 15 of the winner’s venue or group peers as part of the prize.
“Allara is incredibly excited to be collaborating with Australian Hotelier to offer this valuable scholarship for the 2025 Pub Leaders Summit,” stated Andrew Lewis, CEO of Allara Learning and Allara Global.
“We were genuinely inspired by the talent and passion of last year’s applicants and are eager to see the innovative ideas and leadership potential of the 2025 cohort. This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring pub leaders – we highly encourage you to apply!”
Carlton and United Breweries have also returned as sponsors, supplying the winner and finalists with an experience at Green Beacon Brewing Co, which will provide education, insights and the opportunity to network with their peers from across the country.
“Carlton & United Breweries is proud to once again sponsor the Future Leaders Scholarship. We have always worked hand in hand with our pub partners, and nurturing the next generation of industry leaders is an honour,” stated Peter Yeomans, General Manager Sales – NSW/ACT for CUB.
“The 2024 scholarship applicants were all talented individuals that were very passionate about the sector. We look forward to meeting this year’s young publicans.”
The prize pool
This year’s prize pool is valued at a collective $24,000. More than $16,000 of that prize pool will be awarded to the winner – with a component of the prize this year also being awarded to the winner’s venue.
