Tim Fitzgerald departs Morris Hospitality CEO role

Tim Fitzgerald has resigned from his role as CEO of Morris Hospitality, as he relocates to Sydney.

Tim Fitzgerald has resigned from his role as CEO of Morris Hospitality, citing an opportunity to move back to Sydney to be closer to family. Fitzgerald – who previously worked in senior management roles at The Keystone Group and Merivale – first moved to Melbourne in 2019, taking on the role of COO for Morris Hospitality, then known as CLG. He has been CEO of the group since early 2021.

“This was a very difficult decision for me to make, as I have enjoyed my time with the Morris Group immensely and I’m very proud of all that we have achieved together during my tenure. An opportunity arose to move back to my home city of Sydney, and the lure of being closer to my extended family there was too strong,” Fitzgerald stated.

In his time as CEO of the Melbourne-based group – which includes the Albert Park Hotel, Portsea Hotel, Railway Club Hotel, O’Connells, Half Moon and Lucky Coq – Fitzgerald has overseen the rebrand of CLG to Morris Hospitality, the acquisition of Julatten Hotel in Far North Queensland, as well as the partnership with Moda on the $85m Isle of Wight waterfront hotel development on Phillip Island, which is currently in development.

Fitzgerald’s replacement will be appointed in due course, but in the interim, Morris Group CEO Penny Cottle will step in to lead Morris Hospitality.

Fitzgerald’s last day as CEO of Morris Hospitality is Friday 6 December.
