Victorian breweries unite on new collaborative project

Seven Victorian independent breweries have partnered to launch Brunswick Block Party West Coast IPA, the first in what will be an annual collaborative brewing project.

The breweries, located in Melbourne’s Inner North, include Bridge Road Brewers, CoConspirators Brewing Co, The Foreigner Brewing Co, Gales Brewery, Rocky Ridge Brewing Co, Inner North Brewing, and Subculture Brewing Co.

Brunswick Block Party West Coast IPA, which launches on 28 November, was brewed in a classic style to showcase the collective brewing prowess.

The collaboration encapsulates the spirit of the community within the thriving independent craft beer scene of Brunswick. The alliance highlights the importance of the region and its independent producers on a broad industry scale.

Mark Schipano, Brewmaster at Bridge Road Brewers Brunswick says that this collaboration represents the culture of craft brewing and the support within the industry.

“This is an idea we’ve had for a while, to bring the industry back to pre-Covid times where brewers would put competition aside and celebrate each other a lot more. Brunswick is such a unique place for craft brewing and there’s huge talent across each operation that we’d love to combine and share.

“The collaboration in many ways emulates what our flagship brewery in Beechworth does as part of the High Country Brewery Trail. We’re keen to set up a trail between the brewers of Brunswick and give drinkers a unique guide to tasting the best of Melbourne’s inner North,” said Schipano.

The official launch of Brunswick Block Party will take place on 28 November from 6pm at Bridge Road Brewers, with representatives from all seven breweries present to celebrate.

Following the launch, Brunswick Block Party West Coast IPA will be available on tap at each of the participating breweries.
