Wee Smoky shakes up Scotch whisky category

Designed with cocktail making in mind, modern Scotch whisky Wee Smoky has officially landed in Australia with an ambition to solidify its presence in bars around the world.

Crafted with a lighter, sweeter corn base and finished in premium peated whisky casks, Wee Smoky has a hint of smokiness that appeals to the modern consumer and a new wave of cocktail drinkers, making it an approachable entry point into the Scotch whisky category.

Thanks to the flourishing agave spirits category, expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.3 per cent from 2024 to 2030, smoky flavours are trending more than ever, making the whisky the perfect base for a smoky take on classic whisky cocktails or a way of injecting new life into trending cocktails such as the Paloma.

Rory Gammell, Founder of Wee Smoky, says the approach of the brand was to shift the old-school “antlers and armchairs” vibe of Scotch whisky and strengthen its position in the vibrant world of cocktails.

“Our whisky is for creators. While we have huge respect for the industry, we invite people to challenge the pre-conceived rules associated with Scotch whisky and drink Wee Smoky however they want, with whatever they want,” he explained.

Founded in 2020, Wee Smoky has been making waves overseas, now launching in Australia with availability in more than 430 bottle shops and expanding distribution across the on-premise. Packaged in a bold, blue glass bottle with modern branding, it makes a vibrant addition to any back bar, designed to be mixed and enjoyed in cocktails.
