Hawthorn’s The Beehive set to reopen next month

Restaurateurs Julien Moussi and Tony Pantano of Only Hospitality group are gearing up to reopen Hawthorn pub The Beehive next month.

It’s been 15 years since the Bakers Road site traded as a pub, and is a project close to the hearts of both Moussi and Pantano with the venue a go-to watering hole for the duo during their 20s.

“Since The Beehive’s closure more than a decade ago, it left a bit of a void for a trusty local. While Melbourne is buzzing with pubs, there’s not as many options on this side of town,” says Moussi.

“Our vision for The Beehive is that it’ll be a pub for the people and reignite that sense of community. This transformation invites a new wave of Melburnians to discover the iconic venue, and that’s something we’re really excited about.”

Chef Chris Rendell will be leading the culinary direction at The Beehive after time spent across venues in Melbourne, Sydney, New York, and New Zealand.

Guests can expect charcoal-cooked proteins, cheeseburgers, pastas, snack plates, and pub favourites such as a chicken schnitzel across the menu.

Honey will also naturally star at The Beehive, with Pure Peninsula’s local products featuring across the venue’s cheeseboard, dessert menu, and even in a hot honey cocktail option.

The 300-pax venue has been designed by Malvern-based architects By Underwood and is expected to send a nod to site’s previous pub chapter while also boasting a warming yet modern charm.

The Beehive is slated to open 15 July at 84 Bakers Road, Hawthorn, Victoria.
